Frequently asked questions
Preparing for homeownership often comes with questions—about credit, finances, and the mortgage process. Below are answers to some of the most common questions we receive. If you don’t see what you’re looking for, feel free to reach out for additional information.
What is the Mortgage Ready Program?
The Mortgage Ready Program is a guided, step-by-step program designed to help individuals prepare for homeownership. It focuses on credit readiness, financial organization, and understanding the steps involved in preparing for a future mortgage.
Is this a credit repair program?
The Mortgage Ready Program goes beyond traditional credit repair. While credit is an important part of mortgage readiness, the program also focuses on financial habits, documentation, budgeting, and understanding what lenders typically review during the mortgage process.
Who is the program designed for?
The program is designed for individuals and families who want to prepare for homeownership but may feel unsure where to start. This includes first-time homebuyers, renters planning to buy in the future, and individuals who want clearer guidance on mortgage readiness.
Do I need good credit to join the program?
No. The program is designed to meet you where you are today. Your current credit situation helps determine the steps in your personalized Mortgage Readiness Plan.
Should my spouse or partner sign up as well?
If both you and your spouse or partner plan to be part of the future mortgage application, it’s recommended that each person participate in the Mortgage Ready Program. Because credit and financial readiness are reviewed individually, each person will need their own active credit monitoring account.
Does the program guarantee mortgage approval?
No. Mortgage approval decisions are made by lenders, not by the Mortgage Ready Program. The program focuses on preparation and education to help you become better positioned for future mortgage conversations.
How does the program work?
After joining, you’ll receive access to a secure portal where your Mortgage Readiness Plan is organized. Tasks are provided one step at a time to help you stay focused and avoid feeling overwhelmed. Support is available throughout the process.
How long does the program take to complete?
The timeline varies based on each individual’s financial situation and goals. The program is designed to be completed at your own pace, with guidance provided along the way.
Is the program currently free?
Program access is currently offered at no cost. Participation requires an active credit monitoring subscription, which is $29.95 per month. Pricing and availability may change in the future.
Why is credit monitoring required?
Credit monitoring allows you and the Mortgage Ready Program team to review your credit information, track changes, and better understand which preparation steps may be helpful as part of your Mortgage Readiness Plan.
Can I work on the program at my own pace?
Yes. The program is designed to be flexible and completed at a pace that works for you. Tasks are structured to be manageable and completed step by step.
Will I have support during the program?
Yes. The program includes guidance and support to help you understand each step and what it’s designed to accomplish. You won’t be left to figure things out on your own.
Can I meet with someone in person?
The Mortgage Ready Program is primarily designed to be completed online, which allows us to provide flexible, step-by-step guidance. While we do have a physical office location, most communication and support is provided virtually. This approach allows participants to complete tasks and receive guidance without needing to attend in-person meetings.
Does the program help with budgeting and financial organization?
Yes. Financial organization, budgeting awareness, and documentation preparation are key parts of mortgage readiness and are included in the program’s guidance.
Is this program only for first-time homebuyers?
No. While many participants are first-time buyers, the program is also helpful for individuals who previously owned a home and want structured guidance before purchasing again.
Do you work with specific lenders?
The Mortgage Ready Program focuses on preparation and education. While lenders may review individuals who have completed a Mortgage Readiness Plan, all mortgage decisions are made independently by lenders.
What happens after I complete the program?
After completing your Mortgage Readiness Plan, you’ll have a clearer understanding of your financial position, documentation, and next steps related to homeownership preparation.
How do I get started or ask additional questions?
You can complete the contact form on our website to request more information. A member of the Mortgage Ready Program team will reach out to answer questions and explain next steps.
What if I need to pause or cancel the program?
You may pause or cancel your participation at any time. There is no long-term commitment required. If you choose to cancel, you can discontinue your credit monitoring subscription according to the provider’s terms.
